I don’t go partying and drinking to have a good time, but I don’t mind shooting pool at the bar with the guys and having fun. What I don’t think people understand is that you can be a Christian and go to a bar. It’s sad when others look down on people because they drink or set foot inside of a smoky atmosphere. If someone chooses to drink, smoke, or chew that is their choice. Some think that it is a true moral sin to do any of these things, but they can’t get over their own opinions long enough to realize that it’s not. Now, to take any of these things into excess is not exactly wise, but if you do it in moderation there is nothing wrong with it. I have a little tid bit of info for you, JESUS DRANK WINE. Yup, you read that right. Jesus literally turned water into wine, and if drinking any sort of alcohol was a sin He certainly would not have provided it for a wedding.
John 2:7-9 “Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants that had drawn the water knew “
Sooo, what happens when you see a fellow Christian you go to church with walking out of a bar, completely sober, having a great day, and doing nothing against the law? You wave to them and say hi! It’s ok to feel at home at church and also feel just as comfortable with a pool cue in your hand in smokey room that’s playing southern rock. Because like it or not, if someone has a few piercings, a couple tattoos and enjoys their Friday night, they might actually still be going to heaven despite what you think. If they hang out with a crowd that you think looks a little “different” remember that God is the ultimate Lawgiver and Judge. You don’t have to like or love the places they go, you don’t even have to join em’, but at least respect them enough not to look down on them for a reason as simple as you don’t like where they shoot pool.
James 4:11-12 “Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgement on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you- who are you to judge your neighbor?”
