Those little places in our heart that seem empty and fill us with a pit of loneliness that seems to grow over time. A sink hole that keeps taking your happiness as It’s victim. People always say that Jesus should be able to fill those voids in your life instead of earthly things, and for the most part that is true. However, God did create companionship for a reason. Yes, God does need to be the center of our lives and we need to remain grounded in Him to have the companion He desires for us.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 “Two are better than one, because they have good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”
Not only did God create companionship but he also created friendship. My mom always says that you become like who you hang around, which is why it is important to pray about who you allow in your life.
Proverbs 18:24 “One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
The people who you hang around can either make you or break you. It’s better to stay home on a Friday night than go out with people who can lead you to do something that you might regret for the rest of your life. But I can guarantee you that when you find that group of friends you can be yourself around you’ll have more fun than you would if you were around those you had to put on an act for. The best friends are usually the ones that go get ice cream and then come home to work on trucks until 3 a.m. Have fun with life, don’t live it down in the dumps, sit out in that cold garage until your toes are numb, even if all you do is hold the flashlight, lay around the bonfire and make new memories. Pray about your friends, pray about your future, and know that it’s ok to go have fun.
